For the Blog Stalkers!

HA! You know who you are…. cause you confessed. Anyway, this posting is for you.

Web page delight: I continue to wrangle with html and just to monkey up the works, our instructor just threw in Perl/cgi. Whaaaaaaaaaa!!! I’m not ready. Good thing Jake’s level head is usually around to walk me through when my brain has completely shut down. Which, by the time I’m done with work, it has.  No, I can’t really complain. My site is HOT! Cataloging hot. LOL Anyway, if you want to see the accumulation of a month of work, then post a comment and I’ll send you an email with the link.

So back to that work comment… today was better in terms of not having excess information just spilling out of my ears and onto my desk. My first day at ENVI (Environmental Design Library, UC Berkeley) went really well. But boy was I exhausted by the end of the day. Today, I was actually able to be useful twice! And help myself once. A good ego boost when you are the newbie. I can safely say, I LOVE Berkeley. Love the library… and there I will stop ’cause I don’t agree with discussing work on you public blog. Hehe. Guess you’ll just have to talk to me, huh?

And now to the traffic report… well, it sucks at 5pm getting out of Berkeley. Bleah. I haven’t figured out a scooter friendly route yet. A half-hour ride quickly turns into 45-50min.

And the move…. as I sit here, I am surrounded by a growing wall of boxes. Again, WALL of boxes. The move is Nov 2nd and I can’t wait. After that, maybe things will get a bit easier until the end of the semester.  I’m going to set up a table in the middle of this big loft, shove all of the boxes into the closet, open my computer and get back to my web work.

And on that note, back to homework! Cheerio….

Coming up for air

It’s been a month!? I mean, really???? That long since I was last on my blog? Since we bought the new car? AND it’s been even longer since the crash. Where did those weeks go and why did they fly by so fast?

Oh, right. I’ve been busy and productive. We’re moving to a loft! And I have a new job at a UC Berkeley library. LOL! I’m so happy right now.  There is also school in which I am writing XHTML code, selecting colors and examining usability, plus surveying records.

Media wise: Pushing Daisies and Torchwood are keeping me amused. I’m also listening to Anna Karenina while updating policies and cataloging. A very different experience than reading it.

We also got to see Pink Martini perform Sept. 11 at the Oakland Paramount theater. That was a wonderful evening. China’s voice has only gotten better, and the gown gorgeous. The opening band was March (Forth?) from Portland. They were great and highly amusing. The stilt people were quite the derring-do.

Current crafting projects: a pair of very colorful wool socks to protect my feet in my boots. But sadly, I haven’t touched them in days except to put them in a bag so they don’t get lost in the move. My other crafting projects and supplies have gone into boxes. Seriously, I have six (yes) boxes of sewing supplies. This new place is going to provide some much needed space to indulge my creative and hardworking spirit.

I was looking through the last summer’s blog postings and was swept up in momentary nostalgia. Things have been moving so fast I haven’t had a chance to stop and reflect. It was a really good summer despite the sad beginning. I only hope that in some way I am honoring my brother by taking pleasure in life for both of our sakes.  Sometimes I think that is the best way of honoring the departed.

Cheerio until my next posting — Loft pictures!!!
